John Babiarz has the right idea. In case you aren’t familiar with it, the LP of New Hampshire state chair is running as a Democrat for a seat in the House of Representatives (see Libertarian-in-chief crashes party).

It’s not unlike what I suggested when I wrote, Ballot Access for the LP of New York.

If Libertarians can’t get on the ballot on their own line, they are going to start getting on Democrat and Republican party tickets. Some will win their primaries simply because they have names like Tom Jones, Bill Bradley, or Scotty Boman (all three of those people are actually members of the LP of Michigan).

I can just imagine Babiarz testifying before the New Hampshire legislature now. “…And since Libertarians never get more than 2 or 3% of the vote, making it easier for us to get and retain ballot access should have no adverse affect on Democrat or Republican politics or elections.”

The question we should be asking now is: Why aren’t we doing this in every state where we don’t already have ballot access?
