On this Friday’s Critical Mass ride, we will pass William Jennings Bryan Elementary School in North Miami.
While Jennings Bryan is referred to by Wikipedia as a “peace advocate”, a label I’m fond of attaching to myself, he was also a “silverite”; an advocate of inflationary currency, and ran for president against gold standard advocate William McKinley.
He was also a Calvinist and a prohibitionist; an enemy of the individual’s inherent sovereignity over their own body.
And a creationist; an opponent of the theory of evolution.
That’s a tough stretch of road along 125th Street in North Miami. As usual, I’ll be on the alert for the safety of my tribe.
So, as I pass W.J. Bryan Elementary School, I hope I’ll be forgiven if I’ve only ONE finger available with which to salute Mr. Bryan…
