Recently, congressman Ron Paul appeared on Larry King’s CNN show with Ben Stein. A shouting match over foreign policy ensued.
Subsequently, the mild-mannered Dr. Paul, out of his element in a shouting match, challenges Stein to a civil debate on foreign policy.
On his website, Stein expresses an eagerness to engage in a wide range of speaking engagements.
“Ben’s personal speaking agent is Marcia Hurwitz. Call her at 310-656-5171, or email her at MARCIA@IALA.COM.”
As we all know, the current foreign policy, which Mr. Stein attempts to defend, is motivated by fear, fostered and abetted by ignorance.
Stein’s position, the foreign policy pursued by President Obama, as inherited from georgewbush, relies on naked, raw cowardice for what public support it has.
It conflates power with strength, facilitating the exercise of the former as a compensation for weakness. The weakness of those amoungst our fellow citizens who succumb to fear.
But, as we often point out here, the distinction between power and strength is crucial.
Of course, Stein will merely ignore Paul’s challenge; secure in the knowledge that the mainstream media will act in concert.
Be that as it may, pressuring Stein to accept is a worthwhile pursuit.
What better way to force the warmongers to face their own weakness and depravity?
Again…
“…And any size group is the perfect size. In May 2009, Ben spoke at an audience of 23,000 at a university commencement, and one week later spoke to a gathering of 35 private-equity players…Ben loves people. He stays with the group for a long time after his speeches… and he’s there before for them, too.”
But will he make time for Ron Paul?
And again…
